Josh Wardle, a software developer, designed the game and just revealed that he has sold it to the New York Times.

In a message on Twitter, he said, “Since the introduction of Wordle, I have been astounded by the response of all players.

“The game has grown beyond my wildest dreams, which I suppose isn’t that impressive given that I created it for an audience of one.
